As cross-border logistics fees keep fluctuating, shipping expenditure has become a key concern for brands sourcing custom packaging. Pre-assembled rigid gift boxes occupy large empty space inside containers, which leads to higher freight charges for sea or air transport.

Flat pack packaging is a practical logistics solution for custom export gift boxes. During production, the grey board and surface paper are processed separately without gluing. The boxes are then shipped flat. After receiving the shipment, buyers only need simple assembly to complete the final gift box.

Not all box styles are suitable for flat delivery. Regular lid and base rigid boxes, color boxes and folding cartons work best. Integrated book-style boxes are generally difficult to ship flat because of their special hinge structure.

With flat pack packaging, the total volume of the same quantity can be reduced by 40% to 60%, which significantly lowers CBM and ocean freight.

However, flat boxes are more vulnerable to creases and damage during transit, so reinforced outer cartons are required. Buyers also need manpower for assembly.

Shenzhen Weichengwang is equipped with automatic rigid box forming machines and automatic gluing machines. We support both assembled delivery and flat pack delivery according to your logistics arrangement.

If you are planning a large-volume gift box export order, you can discuss the packaging method with your packaging factory in advance to balance production cost, assembly labor and cross-border shipping expenses.
